Side Tables, Coffee Tables or End Tables: Which do I need?

While they overlap, each has distinct uses and characteristics.

Side Tables are small and versatile and great for awkward spaces. About the height of a sofa seat, they can be easily moved, serving as mobile drink perches or supplementary surfaces. Coffee Tables are larger and lower, generally placed in front of a sofa. They make an attractive home for coffee table books, drinks and snacks while giving a clear view of the TV. They can help tie a room together and are a shared surface. End Tables are taller, around the height of a sofa's armrest. Often sold in pairs, they sit at either end of the sofa and are ideal for holding lamps, remotes or decorative items.
