Side Tables, Coffee Tables or End Tables: Which do I need?

While they overlap, each has distinct uses and characteristics.

End Tables are taller, around the height of a sofa's armrest. Often sold in pairs, they sit at either end of the sofa and are ideal for holding lamps, remotes or decorative items. Side Tables are small and versatile and great for awkward spaces. About the height of a sofa seat, they can be easily moved, serving as mobile drink perches or supplementary surfaces. Coffee Tables are larger and lower, generally placed in front of a sofa. They make an attractive home for coffee table books, drinks and snacks while giving a clear view of the TV. They can help tie a room together and are a shared surface.
